Reading & Writing
Reading & Writing Class
You have an enriching semester ahead of you! We will be exploring fascinating texts from a variety of genres, including adventure stories, science fiction, plays, narrative poems, Web articles, historical fiction, and scientific texts. You’ll read about topics varying from futuristic space exploration, ancient Greek heroes, amazing new technologies, great American speeches, to challenges to Earth’s atmosphere. Along the way we’ll learn and practice reading skills and strategies that will help you better understand what you read.
Writing is important, too. In this class, we’ll study how successful writers tell a personal story, explain ideas, persuade readers, and present research. You’ll have the opportunity to apply writers’ skills and techniques when writing your own stories, essays, and reports about your own cultural background, conservation, exploration, important technologies and more. We will also cover vocabulary units including definition, word in context, synonyms and antonyms.
Our experienced instructors will guide you on the path to improvement in reading and writing.
